Scenic Colorado Suggests Northglenn Extend Consideration
of LED Billboards
The City of Northglenn is considering allowing one of the largest electronic or LED billboards in the State of Colorado. At 14 by 48 feet, the intrusive proposed billboard will be a huge 672 square feet. When installed along I-25, the bright sign, with faces changing every eight seconds, will be visually distracting and potentially unsafe to drivers. It will degrade the appearance of neighborhoods and present a poor welcome to the City of Northglenn. Furthermore, such signs can adversely impact property values.
Scenic Colorado hopes to stimulate further consideration of the proposed electronic billboard. If the public becomes aware of the LED billboard after it is installed, the options are limited. Now is the time to encourage a full discussion. Scenic Colorado plans to appear at forthcoming meetings of the City Council to register its concerns.
The Northglenn City Council meets on the second and fourth Mondays each month at 7 pm. The meetings are held at Northglenn City Hall at 11701 Community Center Drive. Citizens are invited to address the Council during public comment periods at the beginning of each meeting.
